The Canadian government has reinstated its warning about travel to Jamaica during that country’s state of emergency, declared on 06DEC and lasting until at least 19DEC, when it may be extended.
Ottawa is advising Canadian travellers that "violent crime, including armed robbery and murder, is a problem in large cities and tourist areas, including parts of Kingston and Montego Bay, despite the presence of police to counter criminal activity." Travellers are urged to check out the ‘Jamaica Travel Advice’ page on their website before travelling to the country.
