Wintry Weather Wallops Atlantic Canada: Travel Advisories In Effect

Widespread travel warnings are in effect for Atlantic Canada today, with heavy snow and high winds blasting the region.

Air Canada and WestJet have issued travel advisories, and The Weather Network is warning against non-essential travel in parts of Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.

Before 7 a.m. Atlantic Standard Time, eight centimeters of snow had already been reported at YHZ, forcing most schools to close in Halifax. Forecasts call for 15 cm’s or more in parts of Nova Scotia.

Air Canada has strong wind and snow advisories for YHZ, YYG, YDF, YFC, YQM, YYT, YSJ and YQY.

WestJet’s site says flexible change/cancel guidelines are in effect for YHZ and YYT. WestJet also is warning of heavy rainfall in British Columbia.
