ACTA Elects New Board of Directors

The new ACTA Board of Directors for the year 2023-2024 is: Liz Fleming, General Manager, North South Travel representing British Columbia/Yukon region. Peter Keyter, Director and General Counsel, South Travel o/a The Travel Lady Agency representing Alberta/Northwest Territories region. Karen Schabel CTM, Training and Development Coordinator, CAA Saskatchewan, representing Saskatchewan region. Melanie Carter CTM, Director, Travel, CAA Club Group of Companies, representing Manitoba/Nunavut region. Monica Johnstone CTC, President, Uniglobe Travel Innovations, representing Ontario region. Geneviève Dupuy-Duplessis, Vice President, Club Voyages Dumoulin, representing Québec region. Gary Gaudry, President, Maritime Travel, representing Atlantic region. The Association of Canadian Travel Agencies (ACTA) held its annual general meeting on 30MAY, with members gathering to cast their votes for the nine available positions on the Board of Directors.

The meeting was followed by the appointment of three additional directors, completing the 12-person Board for the upcoming year. Mary Jane Hiebert, CTC, will serve as the Board Chair, with Monica Johnstone, CTC, as Vice Chair, Liz Fleming as Treasurer, and Brian Robertson as Secretary.

“The new Board is very excited about working together with our members and ACTA partners to build a strong future for Travel Agencies and Independent Travel Advisors,” said Mary Jane Hiebert, ACTA board chair. 

The ACTA Board of Directors for the 2023-2024 term has been finalized as follows:

Wendy Paradis, President of ACTA, extended gratitude to several outgoing board members for their contributions throughout their tenure. The departing members recognized were Patrick Doyle, former Vice President and General Manager for Canada at American Express Global Business Travel and current CCO FlightClaim; Mike Foster, President of Nexion Canada; Louise Gardiner CTM, Vice President of The Agency Solution; and Richard Vanderlubbe, President of Tripcentral.ca.

“I would like to thank the following outgoing board members for their dedication and tremendous contribution over many years,” said ACTA president, Wendy Paradis.

Mike Foster and Richard Vanderlubbe will remain active members of ACTA's Travel Agency Leaders Advisory Group (TALA).
