Lynx Air's inaugural flight takes off at 11 a.m. MDT (or 1 p.m. EST) today on 07APR, flying from YYC to YVR.
“We’re ready to go through that gate and become an airline,” Lynx CEO Merren McArthur told the Calgary Sun ahead of the big day. “We’re done with planning to be an airline, we’re ready to be an airline.”
According to Lynx, the carrier plans to open with six destinations: YHZ, YSJ, YWG, YYC, YEG, and YVR. Following the inaugural flight, Lynx will "ease into" a schedule of one flight per day before ramping up for the summer season, with 148 flights per week.
Lynx will launch with a fleet of three new Boeing 737 aircraft, which will expand to a total of 46 aircraft over the next seven years.
In the lead up to its maiden flight, Lynx recently unveiled its crew uniforms, featuring the signature red and white colour scheme of the airline’s brand, while a distinctive Lynx paw print cameo appearance in sky blue, roaming across a snow-white neck scarf.
