To celebrate Travel Agent Day 03MAY, ACTA has planned a series of events in MAY to support travel advisors' well-being and businesses.

Acknowledging that the travel industry has been through a lot in the past three years, ACTA points out advisors have found themselves working overtime with no guarantee of outcome due to pandemic restrictions, facing challenges with bookings and clients due to political unrest, severe weather, infrastructure issues, mass schedule changes and cancellations.

In a statement, ACTA points out that many travel advisors have had to put personal finances on the line and have seen a career and industry they love deeply in distress.

As a result, it says, many travel advisors are feeling stressed, overwhelmed, and burnt out, something the organization feels is important to address on Travel Agent Day.

Health & Wellness Session 03MAY

ACTA will host a health and wellness session with Dr. Erin Watson, a trained trauma expert and educator with over 20 years experience developing and leading psycho-educational programs to support mental, emotional and inter-personal health of individuals, families and communities, for an online session on Travel Agent Day - 03MAY - to explore how to start resolving and recovering from the stress incurred through the unprecedented challenges of the past three years.

The session will focus on how to work through the collective trauma, how to practice sustainable self-care without feeling selfish or compromising work, how to eliminate feeling overwhelmed, and how to re-engage with a job travel agents love and find fulfillment and joy again.

Advisors can register for this session here.

Travel Agent Day Grand Prize

Those who register and participate in the health and wellness session on 03MAY will be eligible for the Travel Agent Day grand prize, including air for two from Air Canada and a four-night stay for two at the new Sandals Dunn’s River Resort, Jamaica from Sandals Resorts.

Business-Building Workshops

From 09-11MAY, ACTA, in partnership with the Jamaica Tourist Board, will offer three, one-hour online sessions with travel industry expert and TV Host Sandra McLemore on how to lay the groundwork for sustainable business success.

The sessions will show how to de-clutter a business space and make room for revenue-generating activities, smart prospecting and client retention strategies, leading to productive lead generation, and business building success.

The session is available to both independent travel advisors and those that work for a consortium. More information and registration can be found here.

Those who register and participate in the Business Building Workshop will be eligible to win a $250 Visa gift card and a $250 VIA Rail travel voucher.

All advisors are welcome to attend these sessions as part of Travel Agent Day celebrations. Non-ACTA members are asked to consider joining ACTA or making a contribution to ACTA’s advocacy fund.
