MICHELIN starts are heading to Vancouver as the city will get its own prestigious culinary guide - the second Canadian destination for MICHELIN.
On 10MAY, MICHELIN announced its first expansion into Canada with the MICHELIN Guide Toronto, coming in fall 2022.
Toronto and Vancouver will be the only MICHELIN Guide destinations in Canada and among just seven in North America.
In an announcement on 14JUL with Destination Vancouver, the inaugural edition of the MICHELIN Guide Vancouver will also be coming in fall 2022 to announce which local restaurants will be receiving MICHELIN stars. Inspectors award one, two or three MICHELIN stars to restaurants with "unparalleled" cuisine.
The Guides also bestow Bib Gourmand ratings on restaurants that offer "great quality food at good prices," and award the MICHELIN Green Star to restaurants that are leaders in sustainable gastronomy.

MICHELIN guides began in France over a century ago as a way for the tire company to encourage early car-owners to travel on road trips throughout the country and beyond. Its lists, reviews and famously-starred ratings of dining, accommodation, destinations and attractions set a standard for all guide books that followed.
