1st Christmas Tree from MD Travels to Rockefeller Center to Kick off Holiday Season

New York City is welcoming the holiday season with the arrival of a 24-meter Norway spruce set to become the iconic Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center. The 12-ton tree comes from Maryland, the first time the Christmas tree has come from the state since the tradition began decades ago. The lighting ceremony is scheduled for 01DEC, and for many, the high-profile event and lighting of one of the world’s most famous Christmas trees symbolizes the start of the holiday season. This year, the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree will be decorated with 50,000 multicolored lights and topped with a 400-kilogram star, with more than 70 spikes covered in 3 million crystals. The tree is expected to remain up through early JAN 2022.
