New reports from Mexico News Daily indicate that Mexico’s visitor permit will no longer guarantee a stay for the previous maximum of 180 days, with more travellers reporting that they were only allowed to stay for 30 or fewer days in the country. For Canadians, the visitor’s permit, also known as the forma migratoria múltiple (FMM), is the only Mexican-issued document needed to travel within the country, with no other visa required. “We don’t have information about the reasons they are giving less time …” an agent from National Immigration Institute (INM) said. “We don’t know if they have received some notification or internal memo.”
