After Buying Seabourn Odyssey, Japanese Cruise Line To Focus On U.S. Market

Japanese shipping company Mitsui O.S.K. Lines purchased the 458-passenger Seabourn Odyssey in MAR, doubling its fleet of cruise ships, as Travel Weekly reports.

The company now reportedly plans to run cruises for the U.S. market and brand itself as the best way to see Japan. The ships would provide a “Japanese experience” on-board with aspects like authentic food and Japanese hospitality culture. Sailings would likely last seven-10 days.

Mitsui will take over the Seabourn Odyssey by the end of 2024, after it finishes its scheduled sailings. The company also plans to build two new 600-passenger ships by 2028. The company says it plans to announce the new name of the Seabourn Odyssey and its itineraries to agents sometime this summer.
