Air Canada and the union representing its 4,500 pilots have begun contract talks. It’s no surprise to anyone watching recent news about air - and especially pilot - labour deals to learn that Air Canada’s pilots hope to secure significant wage gains to match those of WestJet Airlines and U.S. carriers, as the Globe and Mail reports.

As Open Jaw reported, ALPA recently negotiated a deal for WestJet pilots that included a 24 per cent wage increase over four years. Pilots at U.S. carriers, including Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, Spirit Airlines and JetBlue Airways have also secured substantial wage increases in recent negotiations.
