Airlines Globally Doubling-Down On Fleet Expansion

Airlines at the Paris Air Show are capitalizing on post-pandemic travel recovery by expanding and renewing their fleets, reports Aviation International News.

Much of the new business has come from carriers in Asia and the Pacific Rim. Air India signed the largest contract, for up to 290 new Boeing jets and 250 Airbus aircraft, while Indian low-cost carrier IndiGo made history placing a record-breaking order for 500 narrowbody jets from Airbus.

Qantas finalized an order for nine Airbus A220-300s, while Philippine Airlines confirmed an order for nine A350-1000s. China Airlines exercised options for eight Boeing 787s. Other orders include those from Air Algérie, Azorra, Avolon, Binter, American Airlines, and ATR.
