The Tourism Employment Expansion Mandate (TEEM) has released new figures and new predictions of the effects of global labour shortages on travel. While the sector influences over 10 per cent of the global economy, according to the World Economic Forum, it has lost more than 62 million workers since the pandemic.
Breaking Travel News reports that 68 per cent of global travel and tourism industry respondents say they are understaffed. 88 per cent believe it’s being caused by ‘reputational damage’ to the travel industry. 68 per cent say those between 25 and 45 years of age are the most challenging to attract.
