Alaska Cruises Are A Go For 2022, Though Scope of Cruise Season Remains to Be Seen

With three weeks left in a shortened 2021 Alaska cruise season, thoughts are already turning to what 2022 will be like for the state. It will officially begin on 23APR 2022, when Regent's Seven Seas Mariner makes a call to the Dutch Harbour in the Aleutian Islands, followed by 25APR when Norwegian Bliss arrives in Juneau. The season is projected to last until 23OCT, when Norwegian Encore arrives back in Seattle. Cruise Critic notes that one challenge for Alaskan operators this season is to find and retain talent, which may remain a problem into 2022. Many have used the downtime to invest in next year's cruise season, which may increase the scope of operations in 2022. There is still one pressing unknown, which is whether or not cruise ships making their way up to Alaska are required to stop by Canada first.
