Americans Are Eager to Ride Trains. Amtrak Can’t Add Them Fast Enough

According to Skift, Amtrak faces challenges in meeting demand despite the historic USD $66 billion allocation from President Biden's Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

Amtrak CEO Stephen Gardner acknowledges the slow pace of expansion, estimating it takes at least 3.5 years for upgrades and up to 12 years for entirely new lines. Capacity issues persist, compounded by delays in the Acela trains and potential setbacks with the new Airo trains.

Despite these hurdles, states like Virginia and North Carolina witnessed significant ridership increases after introducing additional trains.
