Amsterdam Port Tax Increases 37% in 2024

In 2024, Amsterdam's port tax will surge by 37%, pushing the daily fee for cruise passengers from €8 (CAD $11.55) to €11 (CAD $15.90), reports CruiseRadio.net.

Land-based tourists staying in accommodations costing an average of €175 (CAD $253) per person will experience a 12.5% increase in the hotel tourist tax, jumping from €15.25 (CAD $22) to €21.80 (CAD $31.50). As a result of these hikes, Amsterdam anticipates €65 million (CAD $93,840,825) in tourism tax revenue to support local services and combat overcrowding.

The city is limiting its visitor count to 20 million to manage the tourism influx. This move comes as several global cruise ports, including Venice, Barcelona, Nassau, St. Thomas, and Tortola, also announce tax increases in 2024.
