Ask Skift: Is Travel Sustainable?

The travel industry has seen a surge in interest in sustainable tourism, with more travellers choosing destinations and providers based on their sustainability records, reports Skift.

As the world of travel rebuilds post-pandemic, industry leaders, local communities and travellers are becoming more mindful of the impact their travel choices have on the planet, resulting in a global shift towards more environmentally conscious tourism. As this desire grows, companies and organizations involved in travel are increasingly taking steps to reduce the industry’s massive carbon footprint.

However, while 82 per cent of respondents in a sustainable travel survey declared its importance, only 43 per cent were actually willing to spend more on certified sustainable travel.
