The Chinese government has criticized COVID-19 testing requirements imposed on passengers originating in China, Hong Kong and Macau, and it has threatened to retaliate against countries involved, which includes Canada, the U.S., and several European nations, among others, reports CTV News.
China’s foreign ministry said on 03JAN the entry restrictions “lack scientific basis, and some excessive practices are even more unacceptable.” Mao did not say what countermeasures China might take but referred to “reciprocity.” Canadian and other national representatives say the restrictions are to protect their residents’ health, while the U.K. Transport Secretary said the requirement is for "collecting information" as Beijing isn't sharing COVID-19 data.
