Being Gay Is Illegal in Many Countries. LGBTQ+ Travellers Are Going Anyway.

LGBTQ travel companies are offering vacations to destinations with strict anti-LGBTQ legislation despite the risks involved, reports the New York Times.

These companies, founded by and catering to the LGBTQ community, claim to provide a safe way for LGBTQ individuals to visit countries which criminalize their identities. More than 60 countries still criminalize consensual same-sex relations, with punishments ranging from incarceration to death. Transgender travellers face additional safety concerns and often struggle with updating travel documents.
