Brand USA Prepares to Welcome Restless Global Travellers Ahead of a Funding Boost

Brand USA, America’s tourism marketing agency, is the subject of a new bill titled the Restore Brand USA Act, which would provide a one-time allocation of USD $250m in surplus funds for the agency to prepare for the recovery of tourism in 2022. Skift says that the bill, which has passed through US senate so far, seems to show the government’s increased understanding of the economic impact of America’s travel bans on many countries, which cost the U.S. economy USD $1.5b every week. It also shows Brand USA’s role in recovering the country’s tourism industry as borders reopen. There is optimism that the bill will move forward and that it could also be included in the proposed Omnibus Travel and Tourism Act of 2021, a broader piece of tourism legislation in the works addressing policies and investments needed for U.S. travel to recover post-pandemic.
