Business Travel in EU Increasingly About Trains not Planes

Business travellers in Europe are increasingly opting for rail travel over air travel, according to Skift. Costs and greenhouse gas emissions are the main reasons that sector of pax are choosing to make the change.

One EU travel management company said a client saw its rail travel share jump from 44 to 67 per cent between 2019 and 2022. A Spanish agency said there were 52 per cent more train trips than flights booked in Q4 of 2022 over the same period in 2019. Corporate travel agency CWT says 70 per cent of domestic business travel is now done by rail.
