Canada Hotel Industry Performance Reaches Pandemic-Era Highs

According to new STR data from JUL 2021, the Canadian hotel industry reported its highest monthly performance levels since the start of the pandemic. Despite the improvement during the pandemic, performance was still down compared to 2019 levels. Occupancy was 54.5 per cent in JUL 2021, down by 27.6 per cent in JUL 2019. The occupancy and revenue per room levels were the highest in Canada since FEB 2020, while the average daily rate level was the country’s highest since DEC 2019. AUG 2021 is predicted to be an improvement from last month's levels, as it is typically the strongest month for Canada’s hotel industry.
