A ban on non-essential travel by foreign nationals to Canada is still under consideration by the federal government, reports The Star. The idea of shutting down Canada’s borders to non-essential travel due to the Omicron variant was presented as an option considered by the federal government on 14DEC, but ultimately settling for a travel advisory. Even still, the ban is not yet off the table, according to five senior federal sources. “Honestly, everything’s under consideration,” said one senior federal government source. If the numbers continue to rise, the government would have to take further action, sources said.
