The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) is cautiously optimistic about summer travel, after receiving positive data from member countries who have worked to contain the spread of COVID-19 while also reopening their economies. While a 60 per cent decline at the beginning of 2021 compared to 2020 may seem discouraging, the data suggests that the Caribbean is slowly reversing the negative trend. Data collected from twelve Caribbean destinations from APR 2021 is showing growth compared to APR 2020. Recent statements from key aviation markets that service the Caribbean have also bolstered optimism for further recovery in the region.
