At a session hosted by Caribbean Hotel and Tour Association, a panel of Caribbean hoteliers and tourism executives shared their strategies and health priorities in the region, including vaccinating resort and hotel staff. Joy St. John, the executive director of the Caribbean Public Health Agency (Carpha) shared some of the challenges facing the agency and region over the pandemic, including vaccine hesitancy, delays in vaccine shipment, and now COVID-19 variants. To combat the virus, some countries like Grenada will require vaccinations of hotel guests and staff. For other countries, individual properties like the Crane hotel in Barbados with 500 staff members, vaccine campaigns such as on-site vaccinations and raffles, have been effective in overcoming vaccine hesitancy among staff.
