Carnival Cruise Line Nixes On-Site COVID-19 Testing Option

Only after a few days of saying it was exploring the option of pier-side testing, Carnival Cruise Line has concluded that this will not be a “viable option.” While the initial idea was appealing to many guests who were struggling to find testing locations within Carnival’s 48 hour window, President Christine Duffy said “the logistics of making this service widely available to a large number of guests does not make this a viable option.” All guests will still be required to provide a PCR or antigen test within 48 hours of embarkation. Unvaccinated guests must take a PCR test within 72 to 24 hours before boarding, while those who are vaccinated have the option to take a self-administered test.
