The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is advising travellers to the Baja California region of Mexico be aware of ticks potentially carrying the Rocky Mountain spotted fever, reports NBC News. The travel advisory, issued 08DEC, comes on the back of the death of a San Diego resident.
Rocky Mountain spotted fever is not spread from person to person, dogs are potential carriers of the infected fleas. Notably the CDC does not recommend avoiding travelling to Mexico or reconsider existing travelling plans.
