Cruise Fans May Soon Face New Limits On Exploring Ports of Call

The cruise industry is experiencing a surge in late summer 2023, with CLIA reporting that cruise passenger volume is exceeding 2019 levels by 106%, reports Clayton News Daily.

However, the rapid growth has led several cities and port towns to impose restrictions on the number of cruise ship tourists visiting their locations. Cities like Barcelona and Amsterdam are considering bans on the largest cruise ships, while, closer to home, Juneau, Alaska, and Bar Harbor, Maine, are debating limits on cruise line visitors.

These measures aim to alleviate congestion and preserve the local environment and quality of life. A post-pandemic world may see further limitations on popular ports of call.
