Disney is debuting its new “Genie” app this fall at California's Disneyland and Florida's Disney World, a new digital service intended to cut down on wait times for attractions. According to Disney Parks Chairman Josh D'Amaro, guests can tell the app what they are interested in, and the service will tailor the experience by telling the guest how to optimize their visit. The base service is free and will be built into Disney Parks' established apps, and will come with a paid version called "Disney Genie+" that provides access to Disney’s “Lightning Lane” for USD $15 at Disney World and USD $20 at Disneyland. "Lightning Lane" is essentially a paid version of a benefit that was once free for guests, Disney's FastPass, which allowed visitors to book rides and attraction times in advance to avoid a long waiting time.
