Disney Touts $40B Economic Impact in Florida as it Battles DeSantis in Court

Disney emphasizes its $40.3 billion economic impact in Florida amid a legal battle with Governor Ron DeSantis, reports NBC News.

The study, commissioned by Disney and conducted by Oxford Economics, reveals the company's influence, supporting 263,000 jobs in the state, over three times Walt Disney World's workforce.

Beyond direct employment, the impact extends to supply chains and employee spending. Disney plans to invest an additional USD $17 billion in central Florida, but recent disputes led to cancelled projects, highlighting tensions with DeSantis. Legal battles in federal and state courts involve the takeover of the Reedy Creek Improvement District, previously Disney-controlled, now overseen by DeSantis appointees.
