As Delta variant cases surge in the U.S., a trickle of American hotels have announced that they will require proof of vaccination from guests and staff members. Accommodations such as PUBLIC Hotel, Equinox Hotel and Wythe Hotel, all in New York City, Urban Cowboy Lodge in Big Indian, N.Y., a hamlet in the Catskill Mountains, and Pilgrim House in Provincetown, Mass., are among the first in the U.S. to require evidence of vaccination, either through a physical card or a digital verification, from guests. Hotels requiring vaccination is already becoming more widespread outside of the U.S., such as an island-wide mandate from Puerto Rico, from the Florida-based Elite Island Resorts company in the Caribbean, or proof of vaccination or a negative test for hotels in Portugal.
