The French government recently banned KLM/Air France from flying the shortest domestic hops that can be taken by train. The goal was to force travellers onto more eco-friendly trains rather than taking short-haul flights. However, the outcome, at least in the short-term and at slot-restricted airports, appears to be that pax are just swapping out shorter flights for longer ones; the opposite of the regulation’s intentions.
