EU Delays Launch of New Entry-Exit System

The European Union has pushed back the launch of its upcoming Entry-Exit System (EES), as the previous launch date of MAY 2023 was “no longer deemed feasible” due to contractor delays.

Business Travel News reports that the EES is intended to be an automated IT system for registering travellers from countries outside the EU and will collect data such as the traveller’s name, type of the travel document, biometric data, and the date and place of entry and exit.

The EU is working on a new timetable for the EES’ introduction. The system is part of the EU’s wider ETIAS, which takes effect NOV 2023, which will require non-EU nationals to pay €7 per person to visit most European countries.
