European Airlines Face Greenwashing Allegations

A European consumer advocacy group has filed a complaint with the European Commission against 17 airlines over allegations of greenwashing, reports Loyalty Lobby.

The advocacy group says some airlines have been misleading customers by falsely claiming that carbon emissions can be offset by purchasing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) or supporting environmental initiatives.

The complaint argues that some airlines may be charging higher fares or green fees, citing these innovations as the reason. The group is demanding refunds for such payments and urging airlines to change those practices.
