With pent up demand, the high costs of tickets, the highest number of flights in the skies since 2019 and the threat of an air traffic controllers strike, European travel is tricky this summer, reports Forbes.
Passenger rights-company, AirHelp, analysed European airports that had more than 5,000 flights in June to take a look at the delays of more than 15 minutes and any cancellations. London Gatwick Airport topped the list, with a total of 54 per cent of flights disrupted in JUN 2023. Other airports with high rates of disruptions include Lisbon Humberto Delgado, Copenhagen Kastrup, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Antalya, Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen, Rome Fiumicino, Manchester, Milano Malpensa, and Frankfurt.
Helsinki's Vaanta airport experienced the fewest disruptions at 18 per cent. Other airports that fared well in the review were Dusseldorf, Oslo Gardermoen Airport and Warsaw Chopin, with around just 23 per cent of flights delayed in JUN.
