The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has announced the establishment of a new committee focused on addressing mental health issues among pilots and air traffic controllers.
The committee will complement the FAA's existing efforts to tackle mental health concerns in the industry, including pilot medical exams and peer support programs. This comes in the wake of the recent incident involving an Alaska Airlines pilot attempting to shut down an aircraft's engines mid-flight.
