Plans to raise the fees for Indonesia’s iconic Komodo National Park may have been axed, but local travel trade insiders say that tourists are uncertain and reluctant to visit. As reported by TTG Asia, the Indonesian government previously planned to increase ticket entrance from USD $17 per visit to USD $250 for a year-long multiple entry ticket as of AUG 2022.
Implementation was postponed to 01JAN 2023 due to pushback, then ultimately cancelled in DEC 2022. Local tour operators said that a drop in visitation to the park will last until 2024 unless more efforts are taken by the government to convince tourists that the cancellation of the increased fees is final.
