Aspen Hospitality is planning to open a 130-room hotel on 10 floors in the Rockefeller Center in NYC, according to CoStar. The property would be the first hotel in the Manhattan skyscraper and take up 10 vacant floors of the building above NBC Studios, famously dubbed ‘30 Rock.’
While the Rockefeller Center has fared better than other office towers during the pandemic and has a vacancy rate lower than surrounding buildings, its owners say a hotel would bring more tenants in as well.
New York City is preparing for a tourism boom, and predicts the number of visitors could exceed 2019 levels in 2024.
