Travel industry trend and business intelligence company ForwardKeys has provided five new insights on how the travel industry has changed as a result of COVID-19. The first insight found is that travellers still want to fly, whether it be to get vaccinated, see family, or explore domestically. The second is that old travel norms have become dated and new trends are emerging. For example, the Dominican Republic is seeing a shift to solo travellers instead of couples, a rise in premium class bookings from flights out of the U.S. and more. Third, last minute bookings are increasing in popularity as the travel industry sees more flexible booking and cancellation policies. Fourth, the length of stay is increasing, sometimes up by around 25 per cent. Lastly, these travel trends are still changing rapidly and are often volatile.
