Flight delays continue to be a major issue for travellers, but there are ways to improve the chances of arriving on time, reports Forbes.
Flight cancellations may have decreased compared to 2022, with most days seeing fewer than 500 cancellations in the U.S. However, delays have increased, with 7,000 to 9,000 delayed flights per day just in the U.S. That’s a third of the global number of delayed flights.
To minimize disruptions, travellers are advised to book the earliest flight of the day, fly where you have loyalty status, book directly with the airline and have a printed boarding pass. Monitoring national weather patterns three days prior helps anticipate potential trouble, and tracking flight status can provide early alerts. In the case of a delay or cancellation, acting quickly through the airline’s app or getting in line at the customer service desk can increase the chances of getting to your destination on time.
