Forecast for Canada-U.S. Aviation: When will the 2nd Busiest International Market Pre-COVID Pick Up?

Before the pandemic, Canada-U.S. market was the second-largest international market in the world, with 39.6m seats in 2019. With a ban on leisure travel still in place, Simple Flying examines the OCT-DEC 2021 period as a likely time for the market to pick up, with 182 non-stop routes across 10 different airlines. Flair’s recent announcement to open to the U.S. market will bump that number up to 193. According to 12JUL data, 57 U.S. airports will fly non-stop service to Canada. 10 airlines will be part of this service, which includes Air Canada, WestJet, Porter, Air Transat, Swoop, and Flair.
