Global Air Travel in AUG Reached 96% of Pre-Covid Levels

In AUG 2023, global air travel neared pre-pandemic figures, reaching 95.7% of previous levels, as the International Air Transport Association (IATA) reported.

Travel Weekly reported a year-on-year increase of 28.4%, with international traffic rising by 30.4% and hitting 88.5% of AUG 2019's numbers. IATA's director, General Willie Walsh, emphasized the industry's focus on meeting suppressed demand rather than targeting specific passenger numbers. He highlighted the industry's commitment to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050, evident in the recent IATA World Sustainability Symposium in Madrid.
