Two construction workers in northern China have been detained after their work caused “irreversible damage to a section of the Great Wall of China in AUG.
As reported by NBC News, the workers made a "large gap" in the wall to allow their excavator through as a shortcut for work nearby.
The damaged section of the Great Wall was established in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). In 2020, local authorities increased protections for the Wall, including blacklisting tourists for violations and issuing fines for vandalism.
