Britain's green energy tycoon Dale Vince is set to launch a new electric airline, Ecojet, in early 2024, reports the Guardian.
The U.K.-based airline aims to demonstrate the possibility of decarbonizing polluting industries. Initially, Ecojet's 19-seater planes will run on kerosene-based fuel for a year before being retrofitted with engines that convert green hydrogen into electricity. Vince, the founder of Ecotricity and chair of the Forest Green Rovers, plans to expand Ecojet's routes to cover major cities in the U.K.
The company intends to introduce larger 70-seater planes for European flights 18 months after the initial launch. Ecojet will also feature environmentally friendly uniforms for staff and serve plant-based meals.
