HAL Completes Fleet-Wide Shore Power Connectivity

Holland America Line (HAL) has completed shore power connectivity across its entire fleet, a process initiated in 2006, reports TravelMole.

The Volendam was the last to be equipped in Vancouver, BC.

Shore power enables ships to turn off their engines while docked, reducing emissions and noise. Currently, HAL ships can connect to shore power in over 18 ports globally, with another 25 ports planning or constructing facilities. HAL aims to cut carbon emission intensity by 20% by 2030. Additionally, HAL has significantly minimized single-use items, replacing many plastic products with sustainable alternatives to reduce their environmental impact.
