How a Potential Strike from WestJet Pilots Could Impact Travellers

Travellers planning to fly with WestJet are being advised to monitor their flight status ahead of a potential pilot strike that could come next week, reports CTV News.

As Open Jaw reported, the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA), the union representing WestJet's pilots, is demanding an “industry-standard contract” that would align Canadian pilot pay with much high pilot compensation in the U.S.

WestJet pilots could go on strike as soon as 16MAY if negotiations continue to be stalled. If a strike occurs, it could lead to flight cancellations and delays, affecting thousands of passengers.
