How Canada's Major Airports Compare in Returning to Pre-Pandemic Traffic

Following a sharp decline in travel during the COVID-19 pandemic, major airports in Canada are witnessing a substantial rebound in passenger volume, reports the Daily Hive.

Amongst Canada’s seven largest international airports, YYC came out on top for its 2022 recovery rate - but it still has only returned to 81 per cent of its 2019 volumes.

YYZ and YVR remain Canada’s busiest airports in terms of total passenger volumes, but neither has returned yet to pre-pandemic volumes, both lagging behind YYC in percentage of traffic recovery. YYZ recorded 35.6 million passengers in 2022, representing a 70 per cent recovery, while YVR saw 72 per cent of its pre-pandemic volumes in 2022, recording 19 million passengers.

YOW has seen the slowest recovery, recording just 59 per cent of 2019 volumes.
