IATA: Big Increase in Physical Abuse Unruly Passenger Incidents

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has noted a rise in incidents of unruly passengers engaging in physical abuse aboard flights, reports Travel Mole

While still relatively rare, the rate of such incidents rose by 61 per cent in 2020. The most common cases of these incidents were non-compliance, verbal abuse and intoxication. 

IATA is urging governments to establish the necessary legal mechanisms to prosecute unruly passengers and calls for the ratification of the Montreal Protocol 2014.
