IATA: Global Air Traffic Hits 96% of 2019 Levels in MAY

Air traffic demand continued to grow in MAY, reports IATA, inching closer to full industry recovery. Total traffic rose by 39.1 per cent compared to MAY 2022. Globally, air traffic has reached 96.1 per cent of pre pandemic levels from MAY 2019.

Domestic traffic experienced a year-over-year increase of 36.4, marking the second consecutive month it has surpassed pre-pandemic levels. International traffic also surged, climbing by 40.9 per cent compared to the same period last year, with the Asia-Pacific region leading the way.

Total industry load factor rose to 81.8 per cent, led by North American carriers at 86.3 per cent.
