India Calls for Increased Security Measures for Air India Flights in Response to SFJ Group's Threat to Canada

India has expressed concern over a threat made by Gurpatwant Pannun, the general counsel of secessionist group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), who warned Sikhs in Punjabi not to fly Air India on 19NOV, citing potential danger to their lives, reports Hindustan Times.

In a statement issued along with the video, Pannun called for a 'Global blockade' of the airline from Vancouver to London.

As a result, India has asked Canadian authorities for enhanced security for Air India flights to and from Canada. In a response to a query from the Hindustan Times, India's High Commissioner to Ottawa, Sanjay Kumar Verma, said, "We shall take up the threat against Air India flights originating from and terminating in Canada, with the concerned Canadian authorities."

This threat evokes memories of the 1985 Air India Flight 182 bombing, the deadliest terrorist attack in Canadian history, highlighting the seriousness of the situation.
