Israeli ministers on 20DEC agreed to ban travel to Canada, the U.S. and eight other countries amid the rapid spread of the Omicron variant. The ban is set to take effect on 22DEC, pending final approval of the country’s parliamentary committee. Prime Minister Naftali Bennett's office announced the decision following a cabinet vote. Canada and the U.S. will join a growing list of European countries and other destinations to which Israelis are barred from travelling, and from which returning travellers must remain in quarantine. Other countries that were approved to be added to the travel ban are Belgium, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Morocco, Portugal, Switzerland and Turkey.
